Originally founded by Inishowen business woman, Peggy Stringer who now resides in Dublin, the Donegal Camino is centered on the true ethos of a Camino and pilgrimage which brings together a network of beautiful and inspiring walking and hiking routes and of course people. Showcasing the stunning beauty and world class walking and hiking of the Northwest County along with Donegal’s hospitality, excellent food, warm and welcoming people, the Donegal Camino also raises much needed funds for Cancer Care West services across the county. So far the Donegal Camino has raised €76,500.
Peggy Stringer’s vision for the Donegal Camino brought together two of Donegal’s finest Ambassadors, TV personality and hotelier, Noel Cunningham and Businesswoman and former owner of Harvey’s Point, Deirdre McGlone. Together, with a growing committee of volunteers, the Donegal Camino is rapidly becoming the leading walking and hiking festival in Ireland.
Offering, 1, 3 and 7-day walking options, it’s easy to Register for either option. The Donegal Camino asks each registered walker to pledge their commitment to support the services of Cancer Care West by raising a potential €100 per person for each day walked, or a sum that’s comfortable to you.
The 2023 Itinerary features a brand new 7-day itinerary inclusive of the most breathtaking walking routes in Donegal from Inishowen’s Malin Head to Europe’s highest sea cliffs, Sliabh Liag. For 2023 we are once again keen to increase our donation and fundraising for Cancer Care West. In 2022 we exceeded our target of €50,000 – can YOU help US go beyond this donation in 2023?
For each registered walker, we invite you to consider raising an average of €100 per day that you walk the Donegal Camino, or suggest your donation.
Donations can be done via www.iDonate.ie
Cheques can be made payable to Cancer Care West in the name of Donegal Camino.
Set up an iDonate page as part of your personal sponsorship.
How much sponsorship do I need to gather?
The primary aim of the Donegal Camino is to raise much needed funds for Cancer Care West which will make a tangible difference for cancer patients and their families in Donegal.
For 2023 we invite you to join us in potentially raising €100 per person per day that you walk. Our Registration page will have recommendations on how to achieve this. Our wonderful Donegal Camino Ambassador, Committee Member and Cancer Care West Patron, Noel Cunningham will be on hand to advise and support you with fundraising. Together we can raise a substantial amount for such an amazing cause.
